Adventures and peace of nature
Eräsaukko Oy offers all year round, natural surroundings for any type of holidays from peaceful to more active holiday making. Near by are for example Korouoma Canyon, hiking trails, crystal clear fishing lakes, hunting- and berry picking woods as well as ski tracks.

To support outdoor sports and trekking, we offer guided nature tours such as wilderness guiding spiced with campfire coffee. On top of that, you can also add other activities to the daily program. In Lapiosalmi there are several activities such as zip line, canoeing and forest golf. We can also help you to organise i.e. rock- and ice climbing in one of the best climbing places in Finland: Korouoma Canyon, husky or reindeer safaris or ice fishing just to mention few. We can also transport you to or from the starting points of Korouoma hiking trails.

 

About Eräsaukko Oy

Eräsaukko Oy is a part of Saukko Group and owns two travel centers: Lapiosalmi and Kenestupa. Lapiosalmi Travel Center is located in Posio and Kenestupa Travel Center in Utsjoki, approx. half an hour from the boarder of Norway. Our head office is located in Helsinki. Lapiosalmi became part of Eräsaukko Oy in 2008 and Kenestupa in 2009.

Lapiosalmi was established in 1963

 

1963
» 14.8. begins the first camp in Lapiosalmi - Posio's scouts together with i.e. Jaakko "Jakke" Granlund and Martti Kauppinen.

1964
» The first Dean camp - the summer camp tradition begins

1968
» Lapiosalmi foundation is established

1969
» Lapiosalmi's land is rented off Metsähallitus (forest management)

1970
» Nationwide preadolescents' camp, over 400 participants. Big sauna is being built.

1971
» 9.7. the building of the main building begins.

1972
» 27.2. the opening of the main building. The building is being christened by Oulu's Bishop L.P.Tapaninen. Leirikeskuksen toiminta muuttui ympärivuotiseksi.

1974
» The hostess' and host's current house, Korotalo, is being built and completed.

1976
» "Lapiosalmi's youngsters' singing singalong", later known by the name "Lapiosalmi-choir" and "Amani" starts.

1979
» 20.5. Christening of Pirtti-building.

1980
» Little sauna and Metsäpirtti are being completed.

1984
» 16.2. Electric lines to Lapiosalmi. No more aggregate.
» 25.6. Jeremias- storm at the time of a camp. Many trees around Lapiosalmi fell down.

1986
» Lapiosalmi bought the land off the Government that Lapiosalmi was previously just renting.

1988
» Koppelo-Aimola- buildings are being built and completed.

1991
» The house of executive manager's is being completed.

2005
» 1.2. Lapiosalmi opens its own website.

2008
» Eräsaukko Oy buys Lapiosalmi.

2014
» New lakeside saunas are being built after the previous ones burnt down.
